How hard is it?

June 8, 2010 nickyswife

I am a Southern girl, y’all know that. My mother raised me with a staunch set of manners and to be a lady of a certain caliber. Now others come to me for advice on how to made good impressions and be tactful. Think Charlotte on Sex and the City, Season 1. Her character would have been very at home in Southern Mississippi.

How does one go about being a lady? After all, being born a woman does not automatically a lady make.

For one, a lady does not, under ANY circumstances, Tweet or Facebook (or take part in any other sort of mobile social media) during a visitation at a funeral home. This is the utmost sign of disrespect, especially if the deceased is a family member. The mobile phone is to be turned off, unless the user is a medical professional on call. Even then, the phone is for emergencies. This is today’s example of how NOT to be a lady—one of my frenemies (read: ex-husband’s current brood mare) was updating Facebook from the visitation of her husband’s deceased grandfather.

Moral of the story, it’s not that hard to be a lady, girls.

Love,

The Wife
